Your cables look fine. Can you prove it?
We test and certify copper and fibre cabling with Fluke Networks and VIAVI test equipment, against TIA and ISO standards. Every link gets a pass/fail result and a report you can hand to your landlord, building management, auditor or cabling manufacturer.
Certified with industry-standard testers
Results come from the same equipment cabling manufacturers and consultants rely on, so your report is accepted for warranty claims, handovers and audits.

Fluke Networks
Copper certification to Cat6A and fibre loss testing, with LinkWare reports for every link.
VIAVI Solutions
Fibre testing for data centre and telco links: OTDR traces, end-face inspection and optical power and loss.
Fluke Networks and VIAVI are trademarks of their respective owners, shown to identify the equipment we use. IT-Fixed is an independent service provider.
A cheap tester says “OK”. A certifier tells the truth.
Most installers check cables with a simple continuity tester. It only checks the wires are connected end to end. Pick a common installation fault below and see what each tester reports.
Pick a fault
What a certification report gives you
Speed you paid for
A link can carry 1 Gbps today and fail at 10 Gbps tomorrow. Certification measures it against the standard for its category, so Cat6A really performs as Cat6A.
Manufacturer warranty
Most structured-cabling manufacturers ask for certification results before they issue a long-term system warranty. Without the reports, you may have no warranty claim.
Clean handover
Main contractors, landlords and data centre operators often ask for test results at handover. We label each result to match your patch panels.
Faster fault finding
When something breaks, a baseline report and an OTDR trace show where to look. Your team spends less time guessing on site.
Our testing services
Copper certification: Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A
Each permanent link or channel is tested with a Fluke Networks DSX CableAnalyzer against TIA-568 or ISO/IEC 11801 limits.
- Wire map, length, propagation delay and delay skew
- Insertion loss, NEXT, PS NEXT, ACR-F and return loss
- Pass, fail or marginal result for every link
- Results labelled to match your patch-panel scheme
Fibre Tier 1: loss and length (OLTS)
An optical loss test set measures how much light each fibre loses end to end. We check the result against the cabling standard and the application you plan to run, such as 10G or 25G.
- Multimode (OM3/OM4/OM5) and singlemode (OS2)
- Loss at two wavelengths, length and polarity
- Loss budget calculated for each link
- End-face inspection of connectors before testing
Fibre Tier 2: OTDR trace
An OTDR maps the fibre from end to end. It shows every connector, splice and bend, with its location and loss. You can spot a weak point before it causes an outage.
- Event table: connectors, splices, bends and breaks
- Distance to each event, useful for locating faults
- Reflectance and loss for each event
- Trace files kept as a baseline for future comparison
Troubleshooting existing cabling
Is a link slow, dropping or only negotiating 100 Mbps? We find out whether the cable is at fault, and where.
- Locate opens, shorts, split pairs and bad terminations
- Find fibre breaks and high-loss connectors by distance
- Re-terminate and re-test on the spot where possible
- Short report of findings and fixes
Quick self-checks
Two rough checks you can run before calling us. The real answer always comes from measuring.
Fibre loss budget
Uses TIA-568.3 maximum values: 3.0 dB/km multimode at 850 nm, 0.5 dB/km singlemode at 1310 and 1550 nm, 0.75 dB per connector pair and 0.3 dB per splice. Application limits are approximate IEEE 802.3 figures. A real link is usually better than this worst case, and only a test shows how much better.
Copper link check
Standards allow a 90 m permanent link and a 100 m channel including patch cords. Cat6 supports 10 Gbps only on shorter runs (typically up to 55 m) and depends on alien crosstalk, which only a field test can confirm.
Built for the environment you're in
From site visit to signed-off report
Scope
Send us your floor plan, link count or cabling schedule. You get a quotation within one business day.
Test on site
Our IT Support Team tests each link with Fluke Networks testers, after hours if your site needs it.
Fix and re-test
We flag failed links straight away. We can re-terminate them or work with your installer, then re-test.
Report
You receive LinkWare PDF reports, OTDR traces and a summary sheet, labelled for handover.
Common questions
Isn't a continuity test enough?
It confirms the wires are connected, nothing more. It can't measure crosstalk, insertion loss or return loss, which decide whether a link runs at 1, 2.5 or 10 Gbps. Certification measures all of these against the standard.
What's the difference between Tier 1 and Tier 2 fibre testing?
Tier 1 measures total loss and length, which answers "is this fibre within budget?". Tier 2 adds an OTDR trace that shows where any loss happens: each connector, splice or bend. Data centres and backbone links usually need both.
Can you test cabling another contractor installed?
Yes. Independent testing is common at handover. We report the results as measured, and can help your installer fix any failed links.
Do you work after hours or in restricted facilities?
Yes. We can schedule outside office hours, and we follow the access, escort and permit procedures of data centres and carrier facilities.
How is pricing worked out?
By the number of links, cable type, test tier and site access needs. Send us your link count and floor plan and we'll quote within one business day.
